When soil behind a wall gets saturated, that pressure has to go somewhere, and a wall without proper drainage bulges, leans, and eventually blows out. A properly engineered wall with real drainage behind it will typically last 30 to 50 years or more. Walls that fail early almost always skipped the drainage and base prep — which is exactly the part we don’t cut corners on.
Many Utah cities require engineering and a permit for walls over about four feet, or for walls that support a driveway or structure. We handle that process for you as part of the project.
